Step by step installation guide for CentOS 7
No doubt CentOS is the operating system that usually occupy most of the web servers, it is a very robust and highly configurable system. This has been proven by me since in almost all dedicated server providers I have found CentOS as the default system.
That is why I made the decision before purchasing a dedicated server, knowing a little more about the CentOS system as well as some tools and functions that I have drawn attention to.
If you are going to occupy a USB device you can occupy the following: Windows: You can use Universal USB Installer or LinuxLive USB Creator, both are easy to use. Linux: We can also search for imagewriter that is the same utility as Windows and create our usable bootable or from the terminal we can use the dd command.
dd bs=4M if=/ruta/a/centos.iso of=/ruta/a/tu/usb sync
At the end of the loading of the system, the installation help assistant "Anaconda" will appear. The first step is to define our language, as well as the distribution of the keyboard of our team.
We click on continue and here Anaconda installer shows us a series of options with which we will configure our installation.
We went to define our time zone, in the "Date and Time" option.
Here we have the possibility to also adjust the time and date in case you do not take the data correctly from the network.
We click on the top left and this brings us back to the main menu.
Now we are going to select where CentOS 7 will be installed on our computer, in my case I am running it on a virtual machine so it will occupy the whole disk.
If you want a custom installation you can select the option "Go to configure the partitions".
Then in "Network and Device Name" we will activate the network connection and in configure we will select the "Automatically connect" box in the window that was opened in the "General" tab.
We also write the name of our host in the form host.domain.
Back in the menu in "Software selection" in this option we will find several groups of packages predefined, in my case as I only require the minimum version I leave it as it is, but you can see what each one offers and select the one that best suits you. please Finally, in Security Policy there are several security profiles, each one implements certain rules to the server, I recommend using the default "Standard"
Once the entire configuration process is finished, we click on the install button, which will finally ask us to configure the root password as well as a user for the system.
Now we just have to wait for everything selected to be installed and at the end the installer will tell us that we must restart the computer to start using CentOS 7.
