The beta of Fedora 28 is now available with many new features

Yesterday, the immediate availability of the Fedora 28 beta was announced, the next version of this magnificent Linux distribution. Initially expected by the end of March, Fedora 28 Beta is now available for public testing, bringing with it many of the latest versions of free software and GNU / Linux tools, among which we can mention the GNOME 3.28 environment and a new modular repository for Fedora 28 Server.

What's new in Fedora 28

The Fedora modularity initiative promises that system administrators can run multiple versions of the same software on the same machine without compromising its stability or performance. Additionally, Fedora 28 Server supports architecture AArch64 (ARM 64) as primary architecture.

"Instead of a separate modular operating system, we have added a modular repository next to the common repository. With the Fedora Server edition the modular repository will be available immediately. You will have access to some modules today and will arrive more at the official launch of Fedora 28, "says Eduard Lucena, member of the development team.

Another novelty that is worth mentioning is the inclusion of the latest collection of compilers (GCC) 8, the GNU C library 2.27, Golang 1.10, Ruby 2.5, Kubernetes 1.9 and, of course, runs under Linux Kernel 4.15.

Fedora 28 Beta is available with the environments GNOME, KDE, Xfce, LXDE, LXQt, MATE, Cinnamon and SoaS, Atomic Host and ARM editions for Raspberry Pi 2 and Raspberry Pi 3.

You can download Fedora 28 Beta right now if you go to the official website, however, you should remember that this is a version published specifically for testing and should not be used in a work environment.

It is expected that Fedora 28 Final will be released the first days of next month.
